CHELSEA 6-0 EVERTON, PLAYER RATINGS: PERFECT 10 FOR PALMER

1. COLE PALMER (10.0)

For just the second time in the nearly 12-year history of these here WAGNH Community Player Ratings, we have a proper perfect-10 rating for a player. Just as the first time, it’s taken a four-goal performance: Giroud v Sevilla in 2020, Palmer v Everton in 2024.

(Two other 10.0 ratings have been handed out since 2012: one for Paulo Ferreira’s final game in 2013 and one for Cesc Fàbregas’s shenanigans against West Brom in 2015 — but these were rigged and not subject to an actual vote.)

A few others had come close to perfection over the years — including Eden Hazard with a 9.9 against West Ham in 2019 — but Palmer got a 10 from 89% of respondents, which was just enough to result in a perfect-10 after the top and bottom 12.5% of the votes were thrown out, as per standard process.

2. MOISÉS CAICEDO (8.1)

May not be a perfect-10 for Caicedo, but a performance just as noteworthy and promising. The 22-year-old has been steadily settling in and improving throughout the course of the season, and this one was perhaps this best yet. It is indeed his highest rating of the season.

Caicedo’s also done this while proving durable and quite indefatigable. He’s now started 21 on the bounce, the longest active streak at the club, and he’s failed to feature in just three games all season.

3. ALFIE GILCHRIST (7.8, sub)

The icing on this delightful cake of a match was Gilchrist’s goal and celebration. What a moment for boyhood Chelsea fan and Academy grad!
